Minnesota Vikings

I Pick to write about the Minnesota Vikings because i am really big into football and they are my favorite team. I really enjoy watching them and reading about them so it shouldnt be to bad for me to write about this.

Part C

I agree with both of you. my point was to say how addicted kids can be and why and it seems like you both understand were i am coming from. Nick it is true about how people need to be mature while playing these types of games but how easy is it now days to find a kid that has the game and go to that house and play it even if your parents say no. These games are becoming more addiciting and i feel every kid will try and find some way to play it even though their parent says no.

Final Project - How Addicting Video Games Can Be

For my final project I saw a topic that really got me intrigued on how it actually has a affect on a person. Video games have been out in the world for a very long time and they are only getting better. A lot of people now days are starting to play them a lot more and in my opinion the games are starting to take a scary turn on how well they are able to perform.  The most recent game that I can think of is Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 2.

This game has got a lot of kids and adults hooked on playing this game. I will admit I am one of them that have a problem with playing the game and have a real hard problem with putting it down.  This game is starting to become realistic and that is one of the reasons why it has such great reviews and why a lot of people are in love with this game! The graphics are insane in my opinion and the game play is so realistic. I have always been a fan of shouter games so this game is right up my alley so I am a little biased on what I am saying.

After reading the article I can kind of relate to it and how I describe everything. I don’t feel that I am a video game addict but I am getting close to one just with this one game. The article describes the symptoms and how to fix the problem. They make a reference to how gamblers are and how they just have a big problem stopping. It is very insightful to how people get addicted and they don’t even know it.  After reading this article it makes it hard to want to pick the controller back up and start playing again, but I have a feeling it will not be long before I start playing again.

It is very interesting to see how easy it is to get addicted. You need to be careful on what you do and who you are with because even if it does not seem that harmless it could actually hurt you in the long run.  Video games are becoming really big with young kids also. I have a little brother that is in 9th grade and if he is not at sports or school he is jumping on his Xbox. Kids now days use the Xbox for their communication and to hang out with people.  I remember when I had to ride bike every day to go hang out with my friends and now all they have to do is go on the Xbox and hang out there. Now days with are technology it is just giving all of these kids a reason to be lazy and that is when school work and everything else starts going down. Most of their attention goes to video games and they forget about school and what is actually important. Everyone needs to get out and get exercise so I highly advise you to stay off the video games and get out and have fun!

Vikings are now 10-1

The vikings had a huge game against the Chicago Bears last Sunday. They won 36-10. The Chicago Bears were never able to get going. The Vikings were able to keep pounding it and pounding it on the bears. It looked like both the running game and the passing game was working for the vikings. The Vikings offense registered 537 net yards, 31 first downs, a 4 of 6 mark in the red zone and a 67% (12 of 18) third-down conversion rate. The vikings defense were able to shut down the bears offense also, allowing only 169 net yards and 10 points. Chicago rushed just 11 times against the Vikings defense and QB Jay Cutler was sacked 4 times and intercepted twice along the way to recording passing numbers – 18 of 23 for 147 yards and 1 TD. If you watched the game and look at the stats you will know understand why i love the vikings so much and why they are dominating teams.

Cage Fighting in Spirit Lake Iowa

This is a little away from the Minnesota Vikings but it is another sports topic so here we go. On November 7th in Spirit Lake Iowa i was able to take place in a cage fight. I was able to get in a cage with a guy named J.D. Carney and knocked him out in 1:09 in the first round. I have been a wrestler and a football player and i have never been so nervous and excited in my life. Right when the bell rang i got hit square in the face that knocked me back a bit but did not knock me down. i took two steps back and shook it off and went at it. I was able to connect with a left hook and stun him a bit then i took him down and did my ground and pound. I then tried to choke him out but was not able to and then he pulled my gloves off so i had to stop the fight and put them on, then once we started back up i hit him a couple time and then we clinched a bit and i caught his knees. Once i pushed him away i was pissed off enough to come in and faint right and hook him with a right hand punch. I knocked him straight down and he did not come back until 10 mins. after the punch. He was still rocked when i was getting announced and he thought that the ref was me so he was hugging the ref saying it was a great fight.

Home field refs Screw the Vikings Over

On 10/25/09 the Vikings had a very devastating loss to the Pittsburg Steelers. Watching that game made me realize how much I really like this team and how disappointing it was to have the referees against us and the Vikings not playing good. It was a 27-17 loss and I felt that the referees screwed us over. We were getting penalty after penalty and one of the penalties that we got cost us a touchdown. Once you go over that play you also find out that the penalty was called for tripping and when I watched it their were no tripping at all, it was a normal chop block that anyone can do on their first contact with another player. The Vikings had 11 penalties for 78 yards (and a touchdown take back) and the Steelers had 3 penalties for 15 yards. If you go by stats that Vikings were able to beat the Steelers in all of the categories except penalties. I feel that it would have been a different game if the Steelers would have been in Minnesota or we would have had different refs in Pittsburg.

Jared Allen is a man beast.

Jared Allen is a defensive end on the Minnesota Vikings line. He is what I would call a “Man Beast!” Jared Allen is 6-foot-6, 270-pounds.  Jared Allen for the last two games has been having career high games. This last game he had two fumble recoveries and one of them for touchdowns. The last game he had 4.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. Not many defensive linemen are able to get going and make such a big impact that Allen is able to do. The Vikings picked him up from the Kansas City Chiefs and has loved every minute of having Allen on their team. They picked him up because most defensive ends have to explode and never stop and that is one thing that Jared Allen does best! Jared Allen has been told that once he gets going he can never stop. Minnesota Vikings have one of the best run stopping and pass rush defense in the league and a lot of the credit goes to Jared Allen.

Does Brett Favre want to get back at the packers?

Favre is trying to put out a front acting like he has no hate towards the Green Bay Packers and I feel he is doing that just so they don’t get to mad at him before the game on Monday night. The Packers GM would not let him go to the Vikings right away so he had to wait another year with the jets, which did not set well with Brett Favre when he left. he was not to happy on how they reacted to him wanting to come back to a different team so the GM made him go to a different team that they do not play. I feel that the Vikings have a huge benefit with the legendary Brett Favre on their team against the Packers just because he knows a lot of the players and how the coaches work. it will be very interesting to see how well Brett Favre will step up this game just to be able to say that he is the better quarterback. Not to mention that if the Vikings win, Brett Favre will be the first player in NFL history to be able to beat every team in the league. That right there should be a big goal for Brett Favre to get just that alone.

Favre says he’s not out for revenge against Pack

REQUIRED! By CHRIS JENKINS

AP Sports Writer

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — One minute, Brett Favre sternly insists he isn’t out for revenge against the Green Bay Packers on Monday night. The next, he says it’s only human for him to feel like he has something to prove to the team that traded him.

In his first extended interview session with Wisconsin-based reporters since well before his unretirement saga went public last summer, Favre reluctantly revisited his departure from Green Bay. He also awkwardly backpedaled from previous comments that indicated a grudge against Packers general manager Ted Thompson.

Favre will be wearing the purple uniform of the Packers’ bitter NFC North rival at the Metrodome on Monday night, but said his career moves over the past year aren’t based on revenge.

‘‘Never was motivated for that reason,’’ Favre said in a conference call. ‘‘No. That has nothing to do with it.’’

But when reminded of his comments to si.com in February, in which Favre said part of his motivation for coming back last season was ‘‘sticking it’’ to Thompson, Favre acknowledged he did want to show the Packers he still belonged in the NFL.

‘‘It’s human nature to feel, I didn’t use the word revenge, but to prove that you still could play,’’ Favre said. ‘‘To prove someone wrong, or prove a group wrong. So you can call it what you want.’’

Packers coach Mike McCarthy wasn’t about to step back into a controversy that caused a major disruption during last year’s training camp before Favre was traded to the New York Jets.

‘‘I’m not going to comment on his thoughts and his words or anybody’s thoughts or their words in Minnesota,’’ McCarthy said. ‘‘We’re really looking forward to playing the game, like we do every year. There is definitely added juice to it, no doubt about it, so we’ll just leave it at that.’’

Favre said his main motivation for signing with the Vikings as a free agent — after retiring for a second time following a season with the Jets — was to win a Super Bowl.

‘‘I’d like to win it all,’’ Favre said. ‘‘I don’t feel like I need to prove anything to anyone, first of all. I’m very proud of my career.’’

But if he’s not out for revenge on the Packers and still wanted to play, why didn’t he just stay with the Jets? Favre said at the end of last season, he wasn’t willing to have the surgery he’d need on his torn right biceps tendon to continue playing.

‘‘I knew I had an injury that would require surgery if I chose to play,’’ Favre said. ‘‘And as disappointed as I was, I chose to go home and not have it and they chose to go in a different direction. That’s how it evolved.’’

OK, so why did he ask to be released from his Jets contract when he retired?

‘‘None of that matters now anyway,’’ Favre said. ‘‘What matters is this game Monday night, and that’s all the matters. This team has welcomed me here. It’s been a lot of fun, it’s been a lot of work, but I’m having a good time. And that’s all that matters.’’

Favre reiterated he still considers Green Bay a ‘‘special place,’’ but said he understands that some Packers fans have turned on him.

‘‘I’m proud of the career I had there,’’ Favre said. ‘‘So if there are people at this point that have picked sides, I’m not surprised by it. But you can’t take that away. So it is what it is. But I can’t control that.’’

And while tensions remain high between Favre and the Packers, Favre says he can envision a reconciliation with his old team sometime down the road. Packers officials have said they still intend to retire Favre’s number sometime in the future.

‘‘I’m sure it can (be healed),’’ Favre said. ‘‘Right now, that’s not on anyone’s mind. Their intentions are to win this game, as our intentions are. We’ll deal with that later.’’

Favre is tring to put out a front acting like he has no hate towards the Green Bay Packers and i feel he is doing that jsut so they dont get to mad at him before the game on Monday night. The Packers GM would not let him go to the vikings right away so he had to wait another year with the jets, which did not set well with Brett Farve when he left. he was not to happy on how they reacted to him wanting to come back to a different team so the GM made him go to a different team that they do not play. I feel that the Vikings have a huge benefit with the legendary Brett Farve on their team agianst the Packers just because he knows alot of the players and how the coachs work. it will be very interesting to see how well Breet Farve will step up this game just to be able to say that he is the better quaterback. Not to mention that if the Vikings win, Brett Farve will be the first player in NFL history to be able to beat every team in the league.
